The aim of this course is to learn and develop music through active involvement in performance, composition, music
fundamentals and listening skills.
Students will study: Performance – regular monthly performances for both solos and group divisions; Composition – one major
pieces; Music Knowledge – rudiments, score reading, set works and aural perception.
Skills acquired: Performance, Creative, Aural & Theory skills and Musical analysis skills

Each student is expected to attempt all internal standards. Standards 1.1 and 1.2 are quite flexible when it comes to assessment time. The approximate date shown should be considered as a guide only. Practice external standard papers will assessed regularly throughout the year.

Each student is expected to attempt achievement internal standards totaling at least 18 credits. Standards 2.1,2.2 and 2.3 are quite flexible when it comes to assessment time. The approximate date shown should be considered as a guide only. Practice external standard papers will be assessed regularly throughout the year. 

Each student will design there respective course of music study by choosing the achievement standards, from the two courses available, that are most suited to them. A  of  20 internal standards should be attempted. Students who choose external standards as well will have regular practice papers to work on throughout the year.
